Dover, England

DOVER, ENGLAND

Date: 2012-05-08

The White Cliffs of Dover are an instantly recognizable symbol of England. Modern highways make Dover the doorstep to London. The cruise ship company picks this port for customers to visit historical London. For those who like to take it easy than travel a long distance to London, the city offers shuttle bus with a fee - USD $7 per person. If you want to go to Canterbury, you still have to buy the shuttle bus ticket first. At the town center, there are train and bus to Canterbury or Leeds. I did city walk to see this English town.

The city center has one shopping street with some fashion stores. The currency is British Sterling. Credit card is welcomed at the department stores. For the European countries, cash is still the regular way to pay for most things. It is quite different from Canada and US, we do most things by credit cards or debit cards.

The weather was better with sunshine. They claim outlet shops, it is too small as compared with outlets in US. I did not feel too much excitement in this Historical Dover.

Dover is England's southernmost city, so people come here for vacation. It has sandy beach. I did not test the water temperature. It might be fine to swim in very hot summer. Just wonder how many hot summer days in England. The city is small, it might be good for Londoners to escape a weekend.
