Guangzhou is the capital of Guangdong province. We know Cantonese Food that is famous around the world, especially in North American. English name of Guangzhou is Canton. There are tons of famous restaurants, I have tasted some special food on my trip. See the pictures:

I believe movies 黄飞鸿 叶问 make the city more famous. Chinese Southern Martial Art important city
Take metro FG line, gets off at 祖庙station, that is city center with many shopping malls and food courts. Walk to the temple is only a few minutes away.
Gunangzhou Metro System 广州地铁
Metro system in Guangzhou is excellent. There are many lines. Sign for next station is clearly displayed. Broadcast is absolutely crisp clear in 3 languages - Mandarin Cantonese and English. Line 3 gets to the new large Baiyun International Airport 白云机场. Line 2 goes to the new huge Guangzhou Southern Train Station, a new station for the new high speed train 高铁. Metro Fare is by distance. Currently, the price is $2 to $7.
From Airport to downtown or other area - at arrival court look down, there is metro. Take escalator or elevator to lower level for Metro. Buy your ticket and enter the subway system. Go down one level, you will see train. That is line 3. Check out what station you will change train or get off. First car and last car have large space for luggage. It is most economical to take metro to downtown, you save not only money but time.
There are other ways to get to downtown:
By Taxi - from airport arrival hall, see the taxi sign to hire a taxi. You have to pay toll fee about $15 each way. My own experience is about $100 from airport to 解放路&东风路.
By Shuttle Bus - There are multiple lines, but you have to know where to go to. Sometimes, you get off from bus, you might still need to take taxi
The best way to travel, to me, is still using subway(Metro).
