天津市，简称津，别名津沽、津门等，是中华人民共和国的直辖市、国家中心城市和中国北方最大沿海开放城市。天津位于华北平原，东临渤海，北依燕山，海河在此汇入渤海。1860年天津成为通商口岸后，西方多国在天津设立租界，天津成为中国北方开放的前沿和近代中国“洋务”运动的基地。由天津开始的军事近代化，以及铁路、电报、电话、邮政、采矿、近代教育、司法等方面建设，均开中国之先河，天津成为当时中国第二大工商业城市和北方最大的金融商贸中心。2006年3月22日，国务院常务会议将天津完整定位为“国际港口城市、北方经济中心、生态城市”[3]，并将“推进天津滨海新区开发开放”纳入十一五规划和国家战略，设立为国家综合配套改革试验区，使天津成为“中国经济未来第三增长极。天津即将举办2013年东亚运动会，也是夏季达沃斯论坛的举办城市。2010年天津蝉联欧洲经济学人信息社评选的中国内地宜居城市第一名。

The city is very big, population size is over than 12million. The cruise ship port is located in a new reclaimed land on the sea short. Most taxi drivers do not know the place. If you ask a driver to take you to the cruise ship port, most likely they will take you to the transportation cruise ship port, a port to take passengers to Korea or Japan. The port building is stunning beautiful and new. The surrounding area is pretty restricted. When we got off from the ship, we had Dr. Chang gone out to find transportation services. The taxi fare is about RMB 500 to take you to Tianjin. Dr. Chang found a public bus can take us to a light rail station, the ticket is RMB 2. We had 10 people used the public bus to 塘沽站. The light rain is reasonable and they do give senior rate to us. This city is very generous than Beijing. All admission can give senior fare to foreigners.

I stayed 4 nights in this city. I visited Train station and the surrounding area, the famous 南开大学, 天津博物馆， 鼓楼，孔子庙， 五马路， 意大利区, 梁启超纪念馆， etc.

天津塘沽 

I flew from Toronto to Beijing, then take bus to 塘沽. It was in the evening, we stayed in a hotel for one night. The next morning, we walked on the street to see this city. The weather was in winter, cold. Barbara has a chance to have her hair permed. Around lunch time, we called a taxi to take us to cruise ship terminal. The bus driver is from local, he knew the place but not sure. He called his office and make sure the location. When he entered the new reclaimed land, it is too big, drove a a long time still could not see the ship. He called his office again to make sure the location.. Finally, we got to the terminal. I believe the location is not that popular to locals.

This trip is also a cruise ship trip and the ship is Diamond Princess. Just like my 2008 trip to Tianjin by Diamond Princess.
