Aarhus and Copenhagen, Denmark

Aarhus & Copenhagen - Denmark

Date: 2012-05-14 to Aarhus, 2012-05-12 and 23 to Copenhagen

Aarhus is the 2nd largest city in Denmark. Its university is both the country's 2nd oldest and 2nd largest. It is in fact Denmark's largest commercial port. Aarhus is the oldest city in Scandinavia. Emerald Princess port time period is 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM. I did city walk through the old city section. The most famous building is the Aarhus Cathedral. A single plastic funnel is close to $3 in a hardware shop, in our dollar store a set of funnel(3 pcs) for $1. Luckily, McDonald still let us use their toilet.

Copenhagen

Copenhagen is the largest city in Denmark. When I was there, it was windy with occasional rain, temperature is not mild. I just did hop-on hop-off ride to see the city. The price is $35. The city's international airport is beautiful with wood floor on the 2nd floor. The area is not big, long line up for checking in. It is very congested. Not pleasant at all.

Copenhagen 2012-05-23

From Emerald Princess at port to Airport - Copenhagen is the major airport for SAS. The airport is relative modern, but a medium size for North American cities. The terminal 2 for International is kind crowd. For Icelandair the check in has only 2 or 3 counters, we had a long line waiting. We have to make room for those passengers to get through us. The airport upstairs has wood floor, it is quite unusual for me because most airport I have seen are with polished concrete floor or carpeted floor.

Reykjavik, Iceland

Icelandair makes good business, they fly to US and Canada. All flights to Reykjavik, then connect to European destinations. When I got to Reykjavik airport, we have to get up to immigration, then come down to the waiting floor. The waiting area is very small and crowded. The washroom has only 2 urinals for man and 2 seats for ladies room. On the floor, there could be only 2 man's room. A very simple sandwich counter, one souvenir shop, one tiny duty free. The airline does not give free meal, some of passengers are buying chips, snacks, or sandwiches. On the air, coffee and soft drink are free. At the airplane gate, there are Iceland water bottled in China to grab. If you did not take it, then water  might not be supplied.

At 5 PM, there are flights to Washing DC, New York, Boston, Toronto, Baltimore, so everyone will leave at same time.
